Believe the Bible is Completely True
I affirm that God’s Word is the final authority for life and faith; I submit to God’s Word.
“All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness.” - 2 Timothy 3:16 CSB
“Above all, you know this: No prophecy of Scripture comes from the prophet’s own interpretation, because no prophecy ever came by the will of man; instead, men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.” - 1 Peter 1:20-21 CSB
“Every word of God is pure; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” - Proverbs 30:5 CSB
Live by God’s Word and Pursue Maturity in Christ
I will pursue consistent spiritual growth by knowing, loving, and applying God’s Word in every area of life, seeking ongoing growth toward Christlikeness in character, conduct, and conviction.
“Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” - Matthew 4:4 CSB
“But speaking the truth in love, let us grow in every way into him who is the head - Christ.” - Ephesians 4:15 CSB
Live on Mission, Sharing the Gospel
I will actively proclaim the good news of Jesus, both by sharing the gospel with others and through my character witness toward others.
“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” - Matthew 28:19-20 CSB
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” - Mark 16:15 CSB
Pursue Unity and Biblical Accountability
I will seek peace, resolve conflict biblically, and reject gossip or division.
“Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.” - Ephesians 4:3 CSB
“If your brother sins against you, go tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have won your brother. But if he won’t listen, take one or two others with you, so that by the testimony of two or three witnesses every fact may be established. If he doesn’t pay attention to them, tell the church. If he doesn’t pay attention even to the church, let him be like a Gentile and a tax collector to you.” - Matthew 18:15-17 CSB
“Obey your leaders and submit to them, since they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.” - Hebrews 13:17 CSB
Invest Fully in Community and Discipleship
I will regularly participate in weekly worship services and engage in the life of Our City Church where discipleship, care, and accountability flourish.
“And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together…” - Hebrews 10:24-25 CSB
Give and Serve Consistently
I will use my gifts to build up the church, serving regularly in ministry, and will give consistently to support the work of the Gospel.
“Just as each one has received a gift, use it to serve others, as good stewards of the varied grace of God.” - 1 Peter 4:10 CSB
“Each person should do as he has decided in his heart - not reluctantly or out of compulsion, since God loves a cheerful giver.” - 2 Corinthians 9:7 CSB
Pray Continually
I will pray that God will use Our City Church and its members to guide them, to proclaim the Gospel and to make disciples.
“Pray constantly.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:17 CSB
“Devote yourselves to prayer; stay alert in it with thanksgiving.” - Colossians 4:2 CSB
Affirm Our City Church’s Statement of Faith and Bylaws
I affirm the core doctrines of Christianity as expressed in Our City Church’s Statement of Faith, and I affirm Our City Church’s Bylaws. I commit to uphold sound doctrine, guard the truth entrusted to us, and reject false teaching that leads away from Christ.
“Hold on to the pattern of sound teaching that you have heard from me, in the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. Guard the good deposit through the Holy Spirit who lives in us.” - 2 Timothy 1:13-14 CSB
“If anyone teaches false doctrine and does not agree with the sound teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ and with the teaching that promotes godliness, he is conceited and understands nothing.” - 1 Timothy 6:3-4 CSB
“Contend for the faith that was delivered to the saints once for all.” - Jude 3 CSB
My Covenant Commitment
I enter this membership covenant as a joyful response to Christ’s love and our call to love one another (John 13:34-35). I will strive to walk worthy of this calling (Ephesians 4:1), knowing that membership is a commitment to Christ, His church, and His people.
“So then you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with the saints, and members of God’s household, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the cornerstone. In him the whole building, being put together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you are also being built together for God’s dwelling in the Spirit.” - Ephesians 2:19-22 CSB
